X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has introduced new labels for parody accounts to enhance user experience. These labels, appearing below the profile name, clearly mark accounts as satirical, preventing confusion with authentic profiles.
This move aligns with X’s commitment to transparency and its policy against impersonation. While users are not obligated to reveal their real identities, impersonating individuals or organizations to deceive others is strictly prohibited. The platform encourages users to apply the “Parody, commentary and fan account” label themselves via their account settings.
This initiative, championed by Elon Musk, aims to foster a more trustworthy environment on the platform. By clearly distinguishing between genuine and satirical content, X hopes to reduce misinformation and improve user confidence.
