Reliance Jio has recently introduced voice-only plans for its prepaid customers in India. Following this launch, the company made adjustments to the plans, reducing prices and modifying their validity. These voice-only plans were implemented in compliance with a TRAI directive requiring the provision of standalone special tariff vouchers (STVs) for voice calls and SMS. The telecom operator has now reinstated an economical prepaid plan priced at Rs. 189, which had been temporarily withdrawn. This plan is categorized as a value offering, providing complimentary call and SMS services in addition to bundled data packages.
Reliance Jio has reintroduced its Rs. 189 prepaid plan for users in India, as noted by Telecom Talk. This plan can now be found in a newly created ‘affordable packs’ section within the larger ‘value pack’ category. Interestingly, the same source had previously reported that the Rs. 189 plan, along with a Rs. 479 option, had been discontinued.
The Rs. 189 prepaid plan gives you a solid 28 days of service, featuring unlimited voice calls and 300 free SMS. You get 2GB of data at a high speed, though the exact speed isn’t mentioned, and once that’s used up, you can still enjoy unlimited data at 64Kbps. Plus, the plan includes free subscriptions to JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud, but keep in mind that it doesn’t come with Ji Cinema Premium Access.
This is the cheapest recharge pack available right now, right after the Rs. 199 plan, which gives you 18 days of validity along with 1.5GB of data each day and 100 SMS daily. It looks like the telecom company might roll out some new value plans with longer validity in the near future.
